The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Ministry of Finance has issued a communication today regarding promotion to the grade of Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax (Adhoc Basis) for the vacancy year 2025.
As many as tentative list of 431 officers has been published by CBDT for consideration. The CBDT has requested the concerned Cadre controlling Authorities to provide following details in respect of officers whose name is circulated by Board;
Status of Current vigilance
Details of penalties imposed in the last 10 years.
Administrative status, including pending complaints, cases of resignation, VRS, compulsory retirement, deputation or dismissal.
Information on officers belonging to the PwBD category with sub-categories.

This step shows that the preparatory process for convening the Screening Committee Meeting to finalize ad-hoc promotions to Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax for vacancy year 2025 has been started.
